I agree with you -- there are some action scenes in some movies that are worth seeing.

But I didn't think of them in the LOTR were -- well, maybe, perhaps in the battle before Minas Tirith, but still none of that kind of thing was why I loved LoTR so much as a work.

I never much cared for The Hobbit. In fact I had to be urged to read LoTR after I read The Hobbit.
