I'm thinking of ye very olden daze when people had very little of anything and even less knowledge of germs and so on -- scratching and the resulting infections, perhaps. Not that I've run into many -- any? -- accounts of anyone dying in ye olden days from infected scratching of itching head due to lice.

But just -- ugh.
