In The Forest Of Forgetting, by Theodora Goss; Fledgling by Octavia Butler; and Mockingjay (The Final Book of The Hunger Games) by Suzanne Collins.

I wasn’t expecting these for a few more days. Pretty much guarandamnteed to make me feel better. :D

I've read somewhere that Octavia Butler is amazing but Fledgling isn't the place to start. What would you recommend? I'd love to try a book by her, she sounds very interesting.

"Fledgling" is the only Butler I've read so far, but I've heard really good things about "Kindred" and I'm going to try that next. "Fledgling" felt like a book that wasn't finished, that still needed to be fixed up and cleaned up and made smooth. The writing is a little bit choppy and not as emotionally invested as I would have liked, but I still really liked it. There were specific elements of the book that really bothered me, but I also felt like they'd been put in there to bother people and make them think. I love the concepts and the subculture/version of our world. I have A Thing for vampires, and I really really like the version she's created. I wish she'd been able to do more with the idea, write more books. i would totally read a series about her vampires.
