I'm sure this isn't all that helpful, but I had pertussis about five years ago. It sucked rocks, but I went to the doc, got a bunch of meds and got over it. My doc tends to seriously bulk me up on 'cautionary stuff'(I think there were steroids at one point?) when my lungs are involved, so it probably wasn't as dire as she made it look. :p

But yeah, you should get someone to have a look at you.
