Mr. Rogers was one of my first babysitters. When my mom was pregnant with my brother she was sick as hell and stuck with a two year old. But she knew that when MRN came on, she could plunk me down in front of the t.v. and she'd have a good half-hour of solid nap time on the couch while I sang and talked to the puppets and Mr. McFeeley and, of course, Mr. Rogers himself.
I kind of wince at a new version, but then again, Mr. Rogers had such amazing concepts and messages for kids at that age, that I'm kind of glad they're finding a way to bring all that to a new generation.
