Making Twitter Profitable
Nov. 9th, 2022 09:41 pmI was in the shower thinking about twitter and how it could be made actually profitable.
People balk at paying $8, sure. But $.99 for cool badges? And you get "free" badges once you've spent a certain amount of money/bought a certain number of badgers/have bought stuff for consecutive weeks or months or whatever? Different shaped icons (square or hexagon instead of round), icon frames. Animated icons/animated affects on icons. Just microtransaction the FUCK out of it.
And then I thought "ha ha, what if he let people put money into a twitter-linked wallet to make it even easier to spur of the moment buy something?" and... well. He's making another weird decision, alright.
My 70-something year old coworker who doesn't use social media at all has heard about twitter and the mass layoffs. She is deeply concerned about everyone who got laid off who's here on a work visa and only has 60 days to find a new job... when facebook and other companies have been laying folks off as well.
