I identify the Christmas season so much more with the nativity than with the tree. My grandpa and I would "light" the red candle bulb every night together. I also always hated our fake trees (a little one downstairs for my mom, sister, brother and I, and a big one upstairs for my grandparents/everyone at Christmas). The only redeeming part was the stuffed reindeer, santa that looked like my great-uncle, and angel that looked like me (short brown hair sticking out everywhere).
My mom bought a live tree in a giant pot a few years ago, and that is now her Christmas tree. It's actually the least stressful Christmas tree she's ever had.
