Hello, I am ___________________________.
Nov. 24th, 2009 04:18 pmI've picked up some new readers, so thought I'd take part in this meme.
You know how sometimes people on your friendslist post about stuff going on in their life, and all of a sudden you think "Wait a minute? Since when were they working THERE? Since when were they dating HIM/HER? Since when???" And then you wonder how you could have missed all that seemingly pretty standard information, but somehow you feel too ashamed to ask for clarification because it seems like info you should already know? It happens to all of us sometimes.
Please copy the topics below, erase my answers and put yours in their place, and then post it in your journal! Please elaborate on the questions that would benefit from elaboration. One-Word-Answers seldom help anyone out.
1. first name
My name is Brigid, which absolutely doesn't match my last name at all.
2. age
30. I frequently am surprised that I'm 30 and not 25. I don't feel old or anything, I just don't feel 30.
3. location
Chicago, IL. We've settled in Albany Park. We lived here about ten years ago. It's a very neighborhood-y neighborhood: lots and lots of families and kids.
4. occupation
I am an unemployed leech on the neck of society. No. I'm doing the stay-at-home-mom thing because child care would cost MORE than I make. That's pretty awesome, huh? NO. NO IT IS NOT.
5. partner
I'm married to the awesomest dude in the entire world. Perhaps you think your dude is more awesome. You are wrong. If you have a lady instead of a dude, there may be some additional awesome points going on, however. We started dated when I was 18 and got married when I was 29. FUNFACT: we got our marriage license before my birthday and got married after my birthday, so our license says I'm 28. (we got married 4 days after my birthday, on Leap Day.)
6. kids
I have an 8 month old boy named Nikola. Before I had him, people kept asking me when/if I was going to have kids. I did not mention the 5 miscarriages (I have PCOS which can both make it difficult to conceive, and difficult to sustain an otherwise viable pregnancy). Now people ask me if I'm going to have more kids. I'd like to. I don't know if I'll be able to. If we don't have more kids it's not the end of the world, but right now I feel weird when people ask me. Also I'm afraid I'm going to split in half if I get pregnant (I had a C-Section), which is totally irrational but still freaks my shit out.
7. brothers/sisters
I have two brothers who are both younger than me and taller than me.
8. pets
I am allergic to all fur bearing mammals and reptiles freak my husband's shit out. We have no pets other than each other.
9. 3-5 biggest things going on right now
1) Money/work issues (money's tight, I miss working outside the home)
2) Getting our apartment remodeled and unpacked (we just moved into a 100 year old 2-flat)
3) Writing
10. parents
My parents live over an hour away. They've been together since college and still dance around in the kitchen together. They drive each other crazy, in both the bad way and the sexy way. My husband's parents live one mile away, so we see them frequently and they watch Niko once a week so I can run errands. Since having a kid I see my parents at least once a month, which is way more often than I used to.
