I'm going to start importing/mirroring my child/parenting posts to his blog. We'll see how that goes. I think I'm going to keep them off LJ at least for now, though.
I won't be importing archives, but you can read previous posts at http://www.brigidkeely.com/baby . To sum up: I have a boy child who was born March 16th, 2009 and I blogged about my pregnancy, birth, and parenting/family experience over there. Our biggest issues lately have been sleep stuff, a recalled crib, illness, and my eagerness to begin potty training a child who doesn't seem to be ready for that yet. I haven't talked about the last very much but it is ON MY MIND.

Date: 2010-09-09 03:49 pm (UTC)My experience with trying to push potty training is that it just gets your house peed on, but YMMV. I started encouraging Herself at about a year old, and she took until she was about 3 to get it down. I didn't worry about it with the boy, and...he took until he was about 3 to get it down and I had less poop on myself.
Also at least it was potato chips and not a Costco-sized bottle of ibuprofen. I have had that experience; I do not recommend it. *sigh*

Date: 2010-09-09 04:00 pm (UTC)I was potty trained around 18 months, one of my brothers was potty trained BEFORE he was a year old (and walked and talked and everything else early too, EXCEPT sleeping through the night which didn't happen until he was like 5). I was hoping Niko would be early on this. Apparently not.
I'm off to fix commenting; thanks for pointing that out.

Date: 2010-09-09 04:05 pm (UTC)I was also toilet-ready at 18 months, and had hoped that cloth-diapering would make my kids equally ready at that age, and...no, not as such. On the upside, the boychild has had maybe two accidents so far, and one of those was on the airplane to go see his grandparents, which was a very frightening experience for him (I get the impression that was more a "pissing himself in terror" thing than an actual potty accident).

Date: 2010-09-09 04:14 pm (UTC)I had a naked Niko in the bathroom several months ago and turned on the water in the tub and he peed and clawed at the door. Now he loves the tub/baths. I felt so bad he'd basically peed in fear, though.
